The Beijing Olympic Art Dream of 2007 hosted 2700 entries from 41 countries, aimed
at promoting the idea of public art, in accordance with the 2008 Beijing Olympics theme: “One World – One Dream”.

The Nest, inspired by the intricate weaves in a weaverbird’s nest, and based on Tagore’s mantra: yatra vishvam bhavatyekanidam – “where the world makes a home in a single nest”, was one of 126 entries selected for the honor. Apart from the 2-dimensional design, a replica of the sculpture made by welding iron rods was sent to the organisers, which is now installed permanently at the Beijing Urban Planning Exhibition Hall.
