Human life needs to be in balance with the eco-system. In the last 200 years we have destroyed so much
life that many wonderful plant, animal and insect species have gone etxinct.

In a few decades, our very familiar tigers, red crabs, and cranes will be museum specimens
if human encroachment into their spaces and brutal hunting is continued. The mangrove forests of the Sunderbans is gradually disappearing endangering not one but two coastal states of Bengal and Odisha. This public installation is an appeal to the consciousness of all to step up against the rampant and often ignorant destruction of different life-forms.

Sculptures of the tiger, the cranes, the red crabs and the man, made of jute, bamboo,
dry leaves, plam seeds, earth, thread and stones, are all seen struggling to find way and refuge. The tiger needs a safe shelter, the birds need security, the crabs need water, and the man of the Sunderbans needs land for a safe home. Made in collaboration with students of Silpa Sadan, Visva-Bharati, the sculptures collectively cover an area of 100/80 sq. feet.
